Job Description

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction invites applications for a tenure track position at the instructor, assistant or associate professor level, beginning August 2018 pending approval from the Board of Trustees. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate teacher preparation courses and may include Master’s level courses for a graduate degree program under development. Experience in teaching elementary reading or ESL courses is strongly recommended.

Essential Duties Summary

Primary responsibilities include teaching elementary undergraduate courses in curriculum, methods, classroom management or other areas based on the candidate’s expertise. Experience in developing curriculum and programs is desired.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must have a master’s degree. Preference will be given to applicants with doctoral coursework or a completed Ph.D. or Ed.D in Curriculum and Instruction or a closely related field from an accredited institution, have a valid teaching certificate issued by the State of Texas, and have at least 3 years teaching experience in Texas public schools at the EC-12 grade level.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred applicants should have:
• An earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Curriculum and Instruction or closely related field from an accredited institution;
• At least 3 years teaching experience in Texas public schools in the elementary including multiple subjects;
• Experience with ESL students and/or graduate level coursework in English as a Second language;
• Experience teaching Reading or Math/Science in elementary and/or graduate –level coursework in Reading or Math education.
