McMurry University uses the Moodle LMS platform.
This position supports the creation and delivery of online courses and online programs. The position requires strong interpersonal, organizational and collaboration skills as well as significant instructional design expertise. The LMS Administrator and Instructional Designer will build relationships with end users, institutional stakeholders, Subject Matter Experts, and instructors as they design and deliver appropriate, high quality learning experiences.

Essential Duties Summary

LMS support:
• Monitor and manage the administrative settings, plugins, and themes for two Moodle instances.
• Administer the Moodle LMS by coordinating course creation, course management, course archival, portal functions, creating and reviewing user roles and privileges as needed.
• Manage account creation and enrollment of users and instructors, using the Jenzabar EX student information system.
• Understand and implement standards, policies, and procedures for the LMS environment at McMurry University, including collaboration with IT, Registrar, Administrators, and relevant faculty committees.
• Maintains current knowledge of products, developments, enhancements, and trends in Learning Management Systems and related software.
• Gather data to support assessment, system usage, and troubleshooting.
• Maintain documentation of changes and problems/solutions encountered while maintaining the system.

Instructional Design support:
• Support the design and development of online coursework using best practices established by Quality Matters, Online Learning Consortium, and other respected organizations.
• Advise SMEs on effective ways to present content and assess learning
• Work with textbook companies to ensure that eBooks and related materials are properly embedded into online courses and accessible to students and instructors
• Serve as a resource for audio, video, graphic, and interactive content production.
• Review and verify that courses are complete and ready to deliver each semester (a mix of mini-terms and traditional semester terms)
• Assist instructors with the creation and use of Moodle test banks, textbook materials, gradebook settings, and troubleshooting.
• Communicate with faculty and students
• Provide technical support related to the LMS and coursework as needed
• Work with other personnel to plan, implement, and meet timelines for the office

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in the field of instructional design, instructional systems technology, or educational technology.
• 3 years of experience with learning technologies, the Moodle learning management systems, and instructional design with focus on eLearning and mLearning content development and related tools (e.g., Articulate, Captivate, Camtasia, Lectora). Knowledge of HTML preferred.
• Knowledge of web conferencing tools
• Excellent computer skills, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook and SharePoint.
• Proven expertise in application and communication of adult learning theory and instructional
design principles.
• Experience with project management methodologies and best practices highly preferred.
• Effective interpersonal communication skills essential due to high contact with faculty,
clients, and other high profile individuals.
• Outstanding organizational skills required.
• Ability to independently handle multiple projects with changing priorities crucial.

Minimum Required Education Bachelor’s degree
Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree preferred.
